Advanced Diploma

College education is equivalent to Level 5 in Vietnam’s National Qualification Framework.

1.      Objectives

College education is a level in Vocational education, with the aim to equip students with abilities to perform intermediate-level tasks and some complicated and special tasks; create and apply modern technology to jobs, instruct and observe other members in their teams in performing the tasks. (Clause 2, Article 4, Law No. 74/2014/QH13 27th November, 2014 issued by National Assembly on Vocational Education)

2.      Entrance Requirements

 College - level enrollment shall be carried out in the form of admission or examination or the combination between admission and examination.

 Cases of enrollment without examination at the college level include:

 - Students obtaining upper-secondary degrees or students who learned and passed the exams which satisfy the requirements pertaining to upper-secondary knowledge, or students obtaining at least very good elementary-level vocational degrees and they have registered the same major or profession or having at least two working experience and have registered the same major or vocation.

- If the first-prize, second-prize and third-prize winners in the national skills contests obtain associate degrees and upper-secondary degrees or they are learned and passed the examinations satisfying the body of knowledge of upper-secondary level as prescribed, they shall be admitted into the colleges without examinations with the majors in conformity with the professions which they win the prizes. (Clause 2, 3, Article 32, Law No. 74/2014/QH13 27th November, 2014 issued by National Assembly on Vocational Education)

 3.      Training Period

 From02 to 03 years with regard to the upper-secondary graduates according to their majors or vocations; from 01 to 02 years with regard to the intermediate-level graduates according to their disciplines and the upper-secondary graduates or they have learned and passed the exams which satisfy the requirements pertaining to upper-secondary knowledge. (Clause 3, Article 33, Law No. 74/2014/QH13 27th November, 2014 issued by National Assembly on Vocational Education)

 4.      Academic Load

 Level 5 requires the minimum academic load of 60 credits. (Section d, Clause 5, Article 1, Decision No. 1982/QD-TTg 18th October, 2016 issued by the Government on approval for Vietnamese Qualifications Framework)

6.      Outcome Standards

 Level 5 certifies the education level of learners who have:

-  Comprehensive, factual and theoretical knowledge about a discipline;

-  General knowledge about politics, nature, culture, society, law and information technology;

-  Have awareness, professional skills and communicative skills required to solve complex tasks or issues, work in groups or work individually in known and changeable contexts, take personal responsibility and responsibility for providing guidance and have capacity to supervise and evaluate the ordinary tasks of own groups. (Section d, Clause 5, Article 1, Decision No. 1982/QD-TTg 18th October, 2016 issued by the Government on approval for Vietnamese Qualifications Framework)

7.      Degrees

Learners who complete the training program and satisfy the outcome standards of Level 5 shall be issued with the College degrees (The Degree of Associate).
